younger sister of Infinity. she did all she could to try to stop her elder sister from blotting out the sun. in doing so, she created many time loops and alternate universes. she has never been able to forge a timeline that would save her sister and the world from eternal darkness. and so, we all live under the moonlight's saving grace.

she's two centuries old. temporal magic keeps the body rather youthful.

"Tes" and Sébastien's angelic son.

Sébastien's ex wife, Selena, tried to make a replacement of her ex husband using his old vanity mirror but botched his creation. Selena intended to use Serafim to kill Sébastien. it didn't work and Sébastien proceeded to adopt Serafim as his own child after the angelic being was freed from Selena's spell.

Serafim was made of half angelic and half demonic energy. the angelic modus pertains to the mind, the demonic modus pertains to the body, but he had no free will. when Sébastien inserted lunar energy into the mix, Serafim gained a soul and emotions.

if you hear him repeating and copying random voices and animal sounds, that's because he hasn't figured out how he wants his voice to sound like yet.

oh, and he could probably kill a person instantly or raze an entire village if he wanted. there isn't any reason for him to, though. he's pretty tame and doesn't understand his own power, being the seven foot tall child he is.

Tes' pet shadow who dons his original name. he's basically a feral dog with semi-sentience. super clingy, loves cuddles and rubbing himself on his favorite people. cannot communicate via speech, barks and whines as well as makes demonic growling noises. bites a lot whether he likes you or not.

Tes spent most of his time during the six years apart from Sébastien running from his own literal shadow, before coming to terms with him. it was only right to keep his name as Jonathan. no one would believe Tes that Jonathan was a horrifying shadowy beast before he finally tamed him after the first arc of Penumbra.

is Penny's mate.

Sébastien's pet shadow, comprised of both shadow and lunar magic. he's basically a feral cat with semi-sentience. very quiet and shy, hates strangers enough to try to bite them. his mouth is barely ever open, but he has even sharper teeth than Jonathan.

purrs a lot when petted, likes moonbathing. has a pussy for some reason.

orphaned twin sisters whose parents were lost to the permafrost when they were very young. childhood friends of Sébastien.

Selena Churchill

twin sister of Helena and ex-wife of Sébastien. works as his advisor... or used to, until he snapped. now she has a grudge against him for all the lies and murder of her family. it isn't really a surprise that she wants him dead.

Sébastien and her married only because they knew it would be beneficial for both of them politically and financially. the two never really saw each other romantically, and especially not now.

lunar energy takes advantage of one's emotions. her rage and grief may be taken out of proportion but they're justified.

the main antagonist of arc two. if you're concerned for her, she's okay. like Sébastien, she receives redemption and a second chance because it's only fair.

Helena Churchill

La Populace

while these people are a criminal organization who worshipped the shadows as Acolytes, they viewed each other as family at one point. all of which have shed their pasts and names to fit in with their new lives, donning animal masks and voice changers to mask their identities.

"Eugene"

Maxwell Blackwood, "Ouroboros"/"Boris"

a suspicious man with green hair in his forties who worked for La Populace. dealt with informational warfare, but his loyalty was something very questionable. behind his carefree personality, he hides his suffering and turmoil.

he was the closest thing to a father figure to Tes when the latter was in high school. unfortunately, in an attempt to sabotage La Populace in an act of what he deemed a necessary action, he died in the resulting explosion.

Tes still has Boris' ouroboros bracelet on him to this day and has not overcome his death.

Skylar Blackwood, "Draco"

an elite bodyguard for Eugene, the head of La Populace. he excels at swordplay, particularly a rapier. his usage of shadow magic combined with his agility made him a deadly weapon... until he decided his heart belonged to a hitman among their ranks. that man was Cailean, otherwise known as Doberman.

Eugene did not like this, that his most deadly weapon now had eyes for someone else. that meant he could no longer fully control him to do his bidding.

when he was still alive, he was missing a pinkie finger. he lost it as punishment for his unfaithfulness to La Populace and supporting Boris' actions before his brother's ultimate demise.

what happened, exactly? well...

Cailean Churchill, "Doberman"

an elite hitman who worked for La Populace. skilled with a katana and shadow magic, could off dozens of people in a day if he so wished. he was the very hitman who offed Sébastien's mother, Francine.

Sébastien's sheer heartbreak and wailing never left Doberman's mind, so much so that he had a mental break over it and confided to his lover, Draco. he had killed many people in the wake of his career, but something about Sébastien's gutteral, pained sobs from his very soul affected Doberman so deeply that it disturbed him to the core.

one day, it got too much for him and Doberman left for the Lunar Church in an attempt to seek reconciliation for his sins. they took advantage of his broken psyche to completely brainwash him into an entirely different person, working for them.

he soon adopted Sébastien in an attempt to make up for what he'd done. this was the worst mistake he'd ever made.

because of Sébastien's actions, this led Doberman and Draco to duel once they crossed paths again. as much as Draco begged Doberman to put down his sword and talk it out, Doberman insisted he did not remember him. they ended up killing each other, or rather... Draco killed Doberman first, then realizing his heartbreak, decided to join him in his demise.

Damien Adler

angry, short, and rude, he isn't afraid to raise his voice. it's because he's lonely and tired of being stepped on. owns a record label by the name of Cyclops Music as well as a clothing brand. known for his emo aesthetic and music. can do some sick screaming vocals.

his only friends are AI beings. he's never made an actual friend. as much as he loves AI and technology, he hates it for ruining him.

an average fellow coming from a very troubled household. his method of dealing with his problems was to take them out on others around him during middle and high school. despite the history he had with Desmond and his friend group, he's doing fine today and making a life for himself away from his shitty family.

in the end, neither Desmond or him were too different in their upbringing. not everyone makes the steps to grow past their trauma and abuse, but he did. that's worth something, isn't it?
